This is really quality spout. This is MUCH nicer than the cheap chrome look plastic spouts or thin metal spouts that are the freebie ones that are thrown in with most water filter spouts.
It's quite substantial. Heavy, and sturdy. Simple, clean design. Reliable precision controls. It's a real piece of equipment designed for a long life of high demand use as a respectable member of your sink faucet set.
The quality of the materials and clean design, sturdiness dual hot/cold function explain the high price. You get what you pay for, if you're smart, and this fits the bill.
Our Franke L'il Butler finally started incessant dripping indicating that the valves had worn out, as is common on faucets with a lever-type design. If you have an RO system with a hot water tank, your choices are quite limited. If you have a Quick & Hot, the APEC faucets are the only ones that seem to work. In any case, although it was a bit of a pain to remove the old faucet, this one installed quite easily, attaching to the permeate output and the hot water tank with press-on connectors and a supplied SS compression fitting that requires you to snug the hot water out hose with a supplied clamp. The design is far superior to the lever-type faucets since there is no leaking and much less chance of wearing out given the ceramic disc design as opposed to the brass valve. Overall all build quality is excellent with a beautiful finish and quality appearance. APEC is also reasonably easy to reach by telephone and email, although I found their responses to my inquiries helpful though a bit terse. These faucets can cost from $20 - $800, with the hot and cold usually much more expensive. At about $270, though it seems high, it is a reasonable value. Highly recommended.
Looks great, works well. We have this with an instant hot and RO filtered water. Be aware the hot water handle is "spring loaded" which means you have to hold it the entire time to fill a large glass or pot of water. That is a bit annoying as our last faucet did not require this. I'm not docking any stars for that as we ordered in a bit of a hurry to meet an install deadline, and the description may mention this and we missed it. Also some may prefer this as a safety feature. It arrived quickly, was packed well, feels high quality, no install issues.
